Grow North 2017 workshop 2 'Polytunnels'

Session 2  Saturday  1 April
Netherton community garden   Culbokie   10.00 - 1.00
Facilitators:  Maggie Wormald and Toni Clark

Polytunnels

  • for beginners - what you need to think about, the benefits of a polytunnel
  • hands on practice

"A polytunnel is the best addition to any garden, providing early season produce such as early potatoes, peas, salads and some root crops several weeks before they’ll be ready outside and sheltered place to pass the time. Also a great place to start seeds in modules and to bring cuttings on.

We’ll chat about, and exchange experiences of, choosing a site and type of tunnel, tips on putting the tunnel up, ground preparation, growing systems, rotation, watering, propagation and building soil fertility.

Netherton’s tunnel was put up about six years ago so we can look at care and maintenance of the various parts of the structure, as well as carry out a few tasks to keep this tunnel going another few years yet"
