As info at Transition Black Isle I have received the following letter signed by the RSPB and SNH. I am unsure how general the invitation is but at least two people will be welcome. It may be open to the general public. I will find out.

We are inviting you to our launch of the Easter Ross Explore for a Day publication and to ask whether or not you and a colleague would like to come.

The launch event is on Thursday 7th of June at the Strathpeffer Pavilion at 6pm. It'll be followed by a selection of free wildlife and cultural heritage walks starting at 7:30pm. There will also be light refreshments available.

It'll be a good opportunity to find out more about how RSPB and SNH support Tourism and to catch up with others working in the Tourism industry in the local area.

We'll have copies of the leaflet "Explore for a Day" for you to take away - do let us know how many you would like and we'll box them up in the right quantities for you to pick up on the night. We're also planning a leaflet swap table - so if you'd like to bring your own leaflets along for others to pick up please do!

Please can you let us know if you are coming by morning of Thursday 24th May.

Kind regards,

Anne Murray (SNH), Maren Ebeling (SNH) & Terri Cunningham (RSPB)

My first thought was: sounds like a good leaflet to have at local holiday accomodation outlets etc (hotels, B&B, pubs) and for their websites (and TBI's) to link to an online copy. I dunno if there's any comprehensive and up to date register of such places, maybe:
http://www.black-isle.info/index.asp

but not sure how up to date / frequently updated that is. The attachment is just the publicity jpg displayed in the message above (ie superfluous). Links to the leaflet...

Direct link to the PDF:
http://www.snh.org.uk/pdfs/publications/access/exploreforadayEaster...

+ its parent page (more friendly to post as a link):
http://www.snh.gov.uk/publications-data-and-research/publications/s...

I suppose we could collate a list of local links for the TBI website and encourage Black Isle websites to link to it or use it as a source for their own links pages. Our forum should be able to come up with a decent list reasonably fast.

The launch event has been cancelled. Details follow.

We’re emailing to let you know that we have taken the decision to cancel the planned launch of the Easter Ross Explore for a Day publication. It is a busy time of year and unfortunately very few people were able to attend.

We're aware that a number of you let us know that you weren’t able to make it. However we wanted to cover all bases and let everyone we'd invited know that it has been cancelled!

RSPB will be hosting a family fun day later in the summer to promote the leaflet and will send you an invite to this nearer the time.

Since we last emailed the leaflet has been uploaded to SNH's website and is available at http://www.snh.gov.uk/publications-data-and-research/publications/s...

Paper copies will be distributed through a company called EAE who are a leading distributor of tourism leaflets. This will include the distribution of 13,500 copies of the leaflet at all key visitor points in Inverness and Highlands, as well as Inverness airport, Urquhart castle, Premier Inn, Travelodges and Visitor Information Centres.

If you would like copies to display please let us know how many and where to send them.

Many thanks

Anne Murray (SNH), Maren Ebeling (SNH) & Terri Cunningham (RSPB)
