Your harvesting will still be going well, though it may have slowed. It is now time to put plans for winter into practice, and sow for overwintering, and feed your soil.

NOVEMBER
This month's specialist topic will be fruit. Explore the range of fruit available and learn about the factors which influence fruit selection, such as root stocks, flowering groups and compatibility. Practice planting bare rooted fruit trees and shrubs and learn how to care for them during establishment. Edible hedgerow species will also be covered.

• Practical tasks in training garden – e.g. pruning, harvesting – depending on site & weather.

DECEMBER
This will be a shorter session, continuing the winter tasks such as sowing overwinter crops and green manure, pruning and harvesting. An evening session to allow all participants to come together again for a guest lecture will also part of this month's training, so please get in touch with suggestions, such as edible flowers, growing in polytunnels & greenhouses.
