Findhorn visit a great success

10 September 2013

The sun shone on our visit to Findhorn on Sunday.  Margot Henderson showed a group of 9 of us around the Findhorn Community site, telling us its history along the way - from the first caravan where it all started, via the gardens, eco-village and whisky barrel houses to the brand new co-housing scheme whose new residents have just moved in.  One highlight that impressed us all was the wonderful Living Machine sewage treatment plant!  Focussing on a huge greenhouse full of plants, it completely treats the waste from the whole community of about 300 people.

Our next outing will be to Gairloch - not to be missed.  see the calendar for details

We are part of the rapidly expanding worldwide Transition Towns movement. The Black Isle is a peninsula of about 100 sq miles ENE of Inverness in Scotland, UK.
