Bruce Morrison, Secretary of Ferintosh Community Council, writes

On 18th May 1952, five boys from the Glasgow area who were living with Black Isle families, set off to Simon’s Loch on Monadh Mor and went out in a boat.  Tragically, the boat capsized and three of the boys, brothers Charles and David  Pickett (aged 12 and 14) and Albert Donaldson aged 18, drowned.  The three boys are buried in Urquhart New Cemetery and there is a memorial cairn at the lochside.

At the request of one of the survivors, Ferintosh Community Council has arranged a commemorative service, led by Rev Terry Burns from Culbokie Church, to mark the 70th anniversary of the tragedy. Everyone is welcome to come to the short service which will be at 2pm on Wednesday 18th May at Urquhart New Cemetery.
