The Transition movement believes that making the transition to a post-peak oil, climate changed world needs to be a community-led process. A community is however made up of individual people who need to undertake a transition in themselves. We have to be the change and not simply expect others to do it.

This means that we have to examine our own thinking, beliefs, perceptions and feelings. If we are trapped in prejudice or unhelpful attitudes we can never start the process effectively. The ends are the means and the means are the ends.

The Heart and Soul group members come from a variety of backgrounds, some have religious beliefs others do not, but we aim to respect each person's own understanding even where we disagree. The group does not advocate any religious or other belief system. It is about examining where we are coming from, where we are going, and especially looking deeply at our connection with each other, the environment and the planet.

We hope to explore and build connections and see that Transition is actually about much more than Peak Oil or Climate Change. We have to change ourselves if we want to make a difference.

The group meets monthly and very informally every month and we would welcome any TBI members who wish to come along.

We are part of the rapidly expanding worldwide Transition Towns movement. The Black Isle is a peninsula of about 100 sq miles ENE of Inverness in Scotland, UK.
