We virtually sold out of over half the 60 varieties, but will have around 25 varieties available for the community markets in March at Cromarty and Culbokie in quantities of 4 to 14kg each. Anya (which didn't arrive in time) will be available, I'll post a list of what's left with approximate quantities here soon.

Approx 80% (by weight) of our seed potatoes were sold, that's probably about optimal - much more and we would be running out of options for late attendees. I guess close to double the number of people attended (400-ish) compared with 2011 and we sold about triple the number of potatoes.

Last year we ran short of early potatoes, this year the demand for maincrops seemed greater. The colourful inside ones (Shetland Black, Highland Burgundy Red, Salad Blue) ran out fast, Lady Balfour was probably first to disappear due to its larger tuber size (so less tubers for people to buy). Ones we didn't have that were requested: Edzell Blue, Arran Victory, Harlequin - all of which I would have bought but stockists had sold out.

There was lots of enthusiasm and interest, a decent profit for TBI, a great success I'd say, big thanks to all who helped out with planning and delivery and to the local growers who kindly donated about 20 varieties of seed potatoes.

Well done and thanks for everyone who took part. It was a really good team effort.

A group of 3 'Dingwall diggers' and 2 staff from Dingwall Academy helped out and seemed to really enjoy it. You can see what they thought.

My guess, from the takings, is that the attendance was probably closer to 350 than 400, and we must have sold over 12,000 potatoes!

I would say well done to all the helpers, particularly Agric... I have just had time to read his notes on each potato -. we wouldnt have done it without him. Perhaps we should get an artical in one of the gardening mags??? It was a briliant success and good to meet lots of enthusiastic growers of ALL ages.

I think the estimate of 400 is probably more accurate since quite a number sneaked in before we had got someone on the door and we didn't charge for TBI members or children and those running stalls were charged separately.

Well, we took about £300 on the door and about £1,250 from Tattie sales. Maybe 400 would be right if you count the under-16s too.

The remaining 20 or so varieties of tatties are going to be going to Cromarty for the market on 10th March. Is anyone able to take them from there to Culbokie ready for the market on 17th?

I still have some tatties in the garage. Half are going to Cromarty allotments and half to Merkinch which are both just starting unless anyone who wants to buy some gets in touch soon.
