Ceilidh Conversation at Neil Cameron’s in Jemimaville at 7.30pm

What is a Ceilidh Conversation? Sue howard offers some guidance:
Surely we’re all used to ‘having a blether’, talking to someone else about what’s stirring us up or making us sad? Why does the TBI Calendar include dates for ‘Ceilidh Conversation’?
What can you expect if you turn up for a ceilidh conversation?
- All are included – being present in the space is a gift to everyone there. Offering our voice is also a gift but so too is the silent listening.
- There is no set focus - our conversation emerges from the experience of those who come.
- The Conversation is time limited – we have agreed to be present to each other from 7.30 – 8.45pm. This gives focus and safety. No one can ‘get in the last word’ to make a point!
- ‘The ‘cherry on the cake’ is the moment when any of us discover that we have a connection with someone we originally thought was not part of ‘my particular world view’. This is how any of us can make peace in the world.
Some of you may have seen the write up of a conversation between Michael Morpurgo and Caroline Lucas. Michael reflects:
... I liked him, but he was not in a position where he could not say what he felt, and I thought: what is the point? You haven’t come to do a party political broadcast. Of course, on these things I’m always the odd one out – the writer, the outsider – but you can’t have a conversation with people who don’t mean what they say.
If any of the above rings bells for you, come and taste and see! (if you want to talk about this before you decide please ring me on 07932 145151).
Sue Howard.
