We've ducked and dived around the issue of transport for some time without making much organised progress (with the one important exception of Maggie's bus petition). We were hoping to make some progress on this through our Climate Challenge Fund bids - but that is not now possible.

Would anyone be interested in helping to plan a community Open Space Meeting on transport? Using this method, participants sit in a circle and identify the issues and opportunities that are important to them relating to tranport. Small discussion groups evolve and participants can move from group to group. The idea would be to help us develop an agenda and some priority projects to takle the tranport issue. Hopefully this could be done without much external resources.

Thoughts welcome.

Sounds good particularly with the prospect of bridge repairs next year. The council do seem quite responsive to concrete suggestions e.g. I pointed out that the lay bys near north Kessock weren't labelled as bus stops so how did people find out they were. They now are and it wasn't that long ago. Its also worth knowing that if there is more than a mile between bus stops you can request the bus stops (at a reasonable place).

We are part of the rapidly expanding worldwide Transition Towns movement. The Black Isle is a peninsula of about 100 sq miles ENE of Inverness in Scotland, UK.
