Seeing as the world didn't end yesterday (see http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/21/apocalypse-not-now-rapt... for confirmation if you're still not sure) we could think about doing something for Zero Carbon Britain Day on 16th July? Zero Carbon Britain is a project organised by the Centre for Alternative Technology. They have produced fairly detailed proposals of how Britain could achieve zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (without nuclear power, although personally I still think a bit of nuclear would make things easier). Suggestions about activities for ZCB day are at http://www.zerocarbonbritain.com/index.php/the-news/121-zcbdaysugge... and there's a brief summary of the proposals at http://www.zerocarbonbritain.com/index.php/the-news/117-zcb-8-page . The full report is also available for download or to buy, or there's a copy of it at Fortrose library.

Anyone got any suggestions of things we could do for the day?

What about us all trying to live a carbon free day--just living without using all our machinery, heating and so on. I see the 16th is a saturday.
Should we make water an exception as most of us don`t have composting toilets?

We are part of the rapidly expanding worldwide Transition Towns movement. The Black Isle is a peninsula of about 100 sq miles ENE of Inverness in Scotland, UK.
