There is now a daily 20 carriage Tesco train, which comes up laiden with all the stuff we buy in and goes back empty.
Whilst it is an improvement that the A9 is no longer plagued by all the lorries and the carbon footprint is somewhat reduced, it is an indication of the sheer volume of non-local food and other goods that is consumed just by Tesco customers.
It would be good if the carriages were full on the way down as well so that another 20 lorries were taken off the road, but it would be even better if a lot more local produce was actually produced and consumed in the area.

Surely there's an opportunity for someone there - has anyone told the Inverness Chamber of commerce? Presumably it doesn't have to go back full of food.
