FCHI event - Growing Food to Reduce Plastic
15 September 2021, Starts: 19:30
Future Communities Highlands and Islands
Wednesday 15 September 7.30 online

Join us to share your ideas on what we can all grow to help reduce plastic - and how we can do that.
Can we swap avocados for broad beans or courgettes?
Why can't we all grow a lettuce box all year round?
Does Kale rule supreme?
Most of us fall into the same old habits of eating pretty much the same food all year round. We all complain about the highly packaged food, yet, we feel like lettuce in our sandwiches so we buy it - perhaps we can feel better about that now as Tesco + the Coop are recycling soft plastic......
Growing food can be difficult. It's time consuming and seeds, compost, tools, raise bed material, green houses, polytunnels etc costs money.
Let's get together and share our ideas on how to encourage everyone to grow even just a small amount of fresh food. Ideas might include sharing seeds with neighbours, developing community gardens in our streets, or working with farmers & crofters to help provide more local veg.
All welcome, but booking essential please. The event will take place on line and the invite link will be sent out before the event.
